Those are all great arguments, but...

1) passport checks would stop illegal immigrants (lets face it, its a very small problem)

2) there's a very tiny fraction of people who need ID cards for clubs - there are plenty of recognised age verification cards for that

3) If you lost your debit card, would you say "its just a card?". Materially yes, but obviously a debit card is more than a piece of plastic. The actual NID card is not planned to be used in the future, it'll be replaced with face, hand or eye recognition.

4) Saying that's there's no point getting wound up because the government is fundamentally flawed means you can't talk about anything political. Which is a bit defeatist really...

5) I didn't vote Labour, Lib Dem or Conservative. :)
