Since the system doesn't have any particular method for separating speaker from speech, I'd go with the help page's recommendation. There are two reasons I favor it:

One, if you include the speaker, then you can never search to see who said someone's name without getting all the text said *by* that character as well.

And two, there's no standard reference for characters' names, so things like alternate identities, characters with both names and titles (like some sentries), and characters whose names are unknown (yet) will all throw a monkey wrench into any attempt to attribute lines.
