Putting a few nails in his mouth, drill in hand, he stands on the table, begining the tedious task of turning the hand drill so as to enter the soft nails for hanging later, speech slightly muffled by the objects in his mouth.
"Ye have quite a valuable gift, one that many in this proffesion would give a limb for, but I think ye might find it a little less forge work than ye expect. The fire is used only for the basic shapes and designs, to make a proper blade takes exact and challenging work of warming, hammering, cooling, sharpening."
He pulls the drill out of the wall, blowing sawdust out of the beam and moving down the table a few steps and starting once again.
"Every armorer is different and has their own way of building their pieces. I make the fire very hot, and add layers onto the weapon. Cooling, adding a layer, cooling and adding again, I find the weapons will last longer this way. Once you see how I work, you can experiment your own way, and see what does best for you."
Taking the nails from his mouth he hammers them through the leather sheets and into the holes.
"Anyway, there are few things I need done which you can start on."
He hopps down from the table and grabbs a box from the corner, filled with what looks like small, skinny pieces of metal.
"A bit of a frustrating task for me, but you should find it easy, and you don't have to keep at it too long."
He picks up one of the small pieces and puts the end in a small contraption with a handle. Pulling the handle down, it flattens the end of the piece and poking a hole through the flattened portion. He does the same to the other side.
"You can use the machine, or in your case you fingers to flatten the end, and just poke a hole in the end. When that's done, curve them into a half-circle. Rather boring, but I've been low on the rings for the chain-mail and need more before I can show you how to do it."
