As for the guard play, I agree too many turnovers, too many missed shots, too few assists. So far, I think the kid Greg Nelson has shown the most ability as a PG in terms of handling the ball. However, he is well down the depth chart. I like the size of our guards compared to years past, especially Eric Jackson (listed at 6'4"). I'm convinced Jason Allen can shoot the lights out, he just has been in a shooting slump. Geary can clearly play in this conference. And, while we haven't seen much productivity or playing time for Fernando Sampson, I believe he will be a star on this team before his years are done.

Its disheartening to think that the guard play has yet to step up -- especially since the guards have been healthy. Other than the fact that Jackson was playing out of position the first five games, the guards corps has been in tact.

Let's see if we can get out of the gate quickly--I'd like to see us go 3-1 vs. Fullerton at home, Riverside at home, Utah St and Idaho on the road. If we can do that and stay healthy, I predict, conservatively, that this team can go 10-8 in conference play. If everything bounces our way, I could see us winning all but one game at home and winning four on the road for a record of 12-6. That'd be a remarkable season and could put us in line to be very dangerous come tourney time.
