Subject: Varnie Dennis....redshirt??

For the benefit of out of towners like ZZZZZA and BMF, the Trib reported today that Dennis may redshirt this year. Dennis says there is a 50/50 chance he will redshirt this year to allow his knee to heal and to get his academics in line. He says he wants to graduate and immediately try to go to the NBA and he is not on track to graduate at the end of next season. Interestingly Bromely was quoted earlier as saying Dennis was playing "bone on bone" with his knee problem last year. (cartilage does not repair itself)

A redshirt by Dennis will require Phil Johnson to get busy and step his game up. Newcomers, Zack Thurow at 6-10 250# John Manley 6-8 220# and Tyler McGinn, 6-5, 200 might have to accelerate their transition into Div I basketball. I sure hope Phil Johnson is spending more time on the court than he is in the surf this summer!!!
