Seeding only per Saturday's L.A. Times. Does that determine our uniform color? Note that they transposed our conference record and always refer to us as "San Luis Obispo". I guess someone should bring them up on it....anyone? Buehler?

TONIGHT
By Paul McLeod

MEN

UC Santa Barbara (16-12, 13-4) at UC Riverside (6-17, 5-12), 7, KEYT-AM (1250), KPRO-AM (1570), KUCR-FM (88.3) -- Santa Barbara could clinch its first outright Big West regular-season title with a win tonight. A loss coupled with an Irvine victory over Long Beach State would give each a share of the title. Santa Barbara has won 11 of its last 13 conference games. Riverside has a three-game losing streak and is not eligible to compete in the tournament until next season.

Cal State Northridge (13-14, 7-10) at Idaho (13-13, 9-8), 7, KCSN-FM (88.5) -- San Luis Obispo and Idaho have already determined that they will face each other in next week's tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center. Northridge is tied with Fullerton and Pacific for one of the final three seedings.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (13-14, 7-10) at Cal State Fullerton (9-18, 7-10), 7 p.m., KWRM-AM (1370) -- Fullerton would be better off finishing with the No. 8 seeding at next week's tournament and facing No. 1 Santa Barbara in the opening round. A loss tonight, coupled with victories by Pacific at Utah State and Northridge at Idaho, would accomplish that. Fullerton Coach Donny Daniels told his team that he doesn't want to lose 20 games this season. A loss tonight all but guarantees that. If Pacific or Northridge ends up tied with Fullerton, the Titans own the tiebreaker because of their victory at Santa Barbara and that means that Fullerton would open against either Irvine or Utah State.

Long Beach State (5-21, 4-13) at UC Irvine (18-8, 12-5), 7, KDOC-TV (56), KRLA-AM (870), KUCI-FM (88.9) -- Win or lose, Long Beach ends the worst season it has had since the 1985-86 campaign when the 49ers finished 7-22. Long Beach State is 0-13 on the road and has a three-game losing streak overall. Irvine owns the No. 2 seeding at next week's conference tournament and can get a share of its third consecutive Big West regular-season title with a victory if Riverside defeats Santa Barbara.
