Subject: 32 years and died a gentleman

Saturday was a sad day in Florida.... it was the day i had to call the vet and put down my horse Magnum. If you have never owned a horse... there is a far greater bond with an equine... then one can EVER get with a dog. A horse lives up to 35 years and in those years... you must earn and build a respect.. that for saftey's sake.. you cant get with a dog. Magnum had a hard life before i got him. Not bad, just hard and once i owned him, he knew he was special. He loved to pull carts in parades and go on weekend camping trips. Any activity that added fun or differance to his life, was taken to, whole heartdly and with gusto. He was a calm horse... able to do tasks that most horses couldnt. He even walked through a church, past the alter, with a screaming congregation, in a Passion play as Jesus's horse. He was once almost arrested, as he was rented for an event and Lady Godiva < unbeknownst to us> was actually naked! LOL He was kind and allowed children to torment him and tease him, during birthday parties or PAL events. A trickster... able to open car doors to get at food left in it... he was a theif, stealing my dogs supper when able. He was very smart... able to untie himself, open gates, or drop a bridle freom his head... and this trait he passed onto his children. He fathered many great offspring and in 2006 at the Superride in Florida... he met his great grandson. I have had horses before and owned others, while Magnum lived with me, but he was special and a friend. Even though he didnt show me love, as some horses will to their owners...he showed me respect and kindness. I hope I did well by you Magnum.... in your life and times with me... You are with Penny and Sandy now, your favorite mares.... run wild in the pastures.... bask in the sun and someday...... someday I hope to see you again and hope you look on me with fondness. Goodbye.... old friend
