Subject: Chaucer (aka Robert)

Chaucer (aka Robert) is doing very well. He weighs thirteen pounds now and his markings keep getting darker, he is really beautiful. He likes to 'fish' and chase lights. I am buying a laser pointer soon for his enjoyment (and mine). He used to enjoy playing with our Newfie when he was a puppy and not yet 150 lbs. They get along great though, but Chaucer doesn't really care to rough-house with him any more. We have had some incidence of 'snickerdoodles', but keeping his rear fur cut shorter has helped make those rare occasions.

He is the clumsiest cat I have ever seen for the size he is! He is not overweight, but he sometimes ponders jumping 18 inches on to the couch! He is getting more confident in his jumping skills as time goes by.

He loves to follow me around the house like a dog, and to sleep in our bed at night when he isn't hyper at night. We currently have issues with him crying at night and waking us up. Also he has a tendency to walk all over my head and purr loudly in the early morning which is obnoxious! I have posted around and the consensus advice is to ignore him totally and try to wear him out before bedtime.

I'm thinking a playmate might do him good. How long do ragdolls stay playful? Will he play with a kitten? He is about three now.

Lindsay
