Subject: Gothic Cathedrals

I also find the lighting in Gothic Cathedrals completley breathtaking. It is completly amazing to me to see how entire buildings, or immense size are able to be lit by only windows. The amazing feat mystifies me, not only are these plain windows, yet stained glass, which would under first impression give an odd colored light.

I am also mystified by the pillars that support the ceilings in these Cathedrals. Although they are meant for the architectural purpose of supporting the roof, they are decorated so intricatly, that they are beatiful to the common eye. The way that the post is supported and ornamentated by the colonettes simply fascinates me.
