Subject: Carmen vs. Violetta

Honestly, I find it very hard to compare and contrast Violetta and Carmen so far, because I have not really gotten the chance to get a good understanding of Violetta's character since we just started watching the opera, but I'll give it it a try anyway.

One difference I see is that Violetta allows herself to fall in love and she actually has a heart, while Carmen on the other hand, does not allow herself to fall in love (and if she really does love these men, she has a weird way of showing it.)

One similarity between the two is the fact that in the end they are both prosititutes, whether it is official or unofficial, they both are selling their bodies for something. In Violetta's case, that something is money, in Carmen's case it is to get her way, or just for the thrill of hurting people, I definitly think she is evil enough to do this.

Either way, thinking about it, both characters do have more differences than I first thought. It shows how much the the trait of compassion is essential to a character.
