Carmen vs. Violetta

Perhaps the most obvious comparison between Carmen and Violetta is that they both use their sexuality to get what they want. However, Carmen uses hers as a sort of side way of getting what she wants, her official occupation is in a Cigarette Factory. Violetta on the otherhand, uses her sexuality as part of her occupation, that of a courtesan, which consequently helps her sustain a more than comfortable living. This brings up another main difference between the two. While both women make use of their sexuality to help them, Violetta uses hers to help make money and gain a higher place in socity, while Carmen uses hers merely to gain flighting things and still remains part of the much lower class. Also, Violetta appears to treat men much better than Carmen, she does not use them and when a man becomes involved with her, as a "protector" he is fully aware as to the type of relationship he is going into. Carmen merely finds a man, tells him she loves him, allows him to "fall in love" with her, gets what she wants from him, and then promptly dumps him when something better comes along. Carmen is very fickle, while Violetta seems more sensible and stable in love as well as life.
