Subject: Carmen vs. Violetta

At a first glance Carmen and Violetta are not at all alike. Violetta is a prostitute and while Carmen is a woman with an overt sexuality, she does not use it as a trade. Violetta is too sentimental and willing to sacrifice herself for her love, whereas Carmen is much more practical and self-centered. However, they are both strong, independet women, who, despite their faults, are still admirable--Violetta for her "noble actions" and Carmen for her ability to think for herself. My favorite is still Carmen, however, for Violetta is too sentimental and dramatic.
