Botticelli and Da Vinci

Botticelli's art had a lot of definition to it with vibrant colors and strong hard lines. He stuck mostly with godlike figures in his paintings except for the "Adoration of the Magi." In that painting, it has Mary and the infant and the Medici family as well as his own self in the painting which i found quite clever.

Da Vinci on the other hand uses a technique called sfumato where all hard lines disappear and it turns into a hazy atmosphere most seen in the painting "Madonna of the rocks." Da Vinci stuck more to painting religious symbols and icons like "The last supper" and things of that sort. He also uses sketches to help him with his paintings just like the one in the book on pg.281 where he sketched Philip, one of the 12 apostles, and used it for his painting. He as well sometimes uses bright colors like Botticelli
