Subject: La Boheme

Like most of my peers, I would have to agree that this is not one of my favorite opera’s. It’s a challenge to try and stay focused on this opera because thus far, there haven’t been any interesting twists or intriguing characters that make you want to know what they are going to do next. It has a very predictable plot and somewhat reminds me of a Dawson’s Creek episode, especially Pavarotti’s character who is very childlike in his thinking and behavior. Instead of dealing with his fear of losing her to death, he accuses her of flaunting herself and seems to be enraged with jealousy, which is not the case. And as we all know, when a character dies in an opera, their death is greatly prolonged, yet in this particular opera, I believe they over do it to the extent where you are awaiting her death just to see what will happen after she dies.
I also conclude that the plot of La Boheme is clearly not original and is to much like opera’s such as Carmen and Violetta. Although those kept my interest because they had their own particular twists and turns to them.
This opera almost screams bad plagiarism and the acting skills of these clearly talented opera singers doesn’t help the opera either.
