I hesitated on commenting on this opera because I wasn't really sure what my opinion on it was. I like the storyline itself, but I'm not particularly fond of the way in which it is presented. I find that at times, even though a great deal of the dialogue is in English, that it tends to drag on. The music itself is for the most part catchy, but again, the action seems to drag at times. Perhaps the only reason I do not completely dislike this opera is because of Dr. Falke. He is by far my favorite character, which probably has to do mostly with the fact that I really like the actor who is playing him. The way he portrays the character is what makes him so intriguing. He does not seem overly consumed with the need for revenge, but rather is calm and rational and makes his moves very carefully.
