Well, as for optionals, I'm not sure- the girls at Alaska State did regular runway. Sportswear you could probably do pro-am. I had my Missy do sorta runway with "attitude" lol- not so fancy, sort of modeling poses at each "x". Odds are there will be x's on the stage for the young girls, but will still be there for you! It was T formation, but it was not on a T shaped stage, so there was a little improv required. Basically, what you should do, is (start smiling as SOON as you enter the stage or BEFORE!) walk to the rear center of the stage and stop, and do "pretty feet". Do not do pretty hands! That is for much younger girls, and is not really being used for them either, it seems. Keep your hands soft and whatever you do, DO NOT GRAB AT YOUR DRESS. Pause on that mark and act like your having your picture taken- smile, and make sure you have good posture. Then, gracefully walk forward towards the judges/audience. About halfway to the front of the stage, do the smile, pretty feet, and pose again. Remember to make eye contact with the judges and SMILE SMILE SMILE. Scan the audience, and this time instead of stopping on your mark, walk in a circle AROUND it, THEN stop on it, facing the audience. This is a Miss America turn. Pause, then slowly turn on your mark, keeping eye contact with the judges over each shoulder as you turn. Then, turn and walk to the back center of the stage, where your FIRST stop was, face the judges and pause/pose again. Proceed off stage, and SMILE. This is going to be the time when they talk about you, saying the info on your entry form. You want to time your exit so you are at your last mark and facing the audience when the emcee say's "Thank you, (insert your name)," or repeats your name and contestant number. Then, you are exiting the stage just at the right time, and it looks very natural.
