Author: Ann Rippin
Subject: Books

Here are some of the reference for books I mentioned at the weekend:

Larry Hirschhorn (1999) "The workplace within: The psychodynamics of organizational life", Cambridge: MIT Press. First published 1990. Definitely in the library but may well be out - so you might have to recall it.

Richard Appignanesi and Oscar Zarate (1992) "Freud for Beginners" Cambridge: Icon Books.

Andrzej Huczynski (1996) "Management Gurus: What makes them and how to become one", London: International Thomson Business Press. First published 1993. Pretty sure that there's a new edition out.

Gareth Morgan (1986) "Images of Organization", London: Sage - particularly chapter seven. Definitely a new edition out. Also an executive summary version. Yet to discover what the backlash against Morgan is all about other than he has become Californian.

Stephen Fineman (1993) "Emotion in Organizations", London: Sage. Definitely a new edition of this out too. There is quite a lot out about this, but this is one of the first forays, and worth a look.

Charles Handy (1999) "The New Alchemists: How visionary people make something out of nothing" London: Hutchinson. You probably won't want to read this, but just in case... I see he has another new one out about elephants and fleas. Anyone had a look?

Eileen Shapiro (1996) "Fad Surfing in the Boardroom: Reclaiming the courage to manage in the age of instant answers" Oxford: Capstone. bit light but also a breath of fresh air.

More as a I dig them out.

Ann
