Subject: My son is on the school baseball team....this past week between both my sons, they brought home 3 different things to be sold. One for baseball boosters, one for PTO ( to give money to teachers) & one for my 6th grade son to raise money to go to the zoo. On top of that....the baseball boosters have called me about working 2 "begging" type events & to work concession stand during some of the games. I am getting really upset with all this "begging" & am just wondering if its me (maybe I'm in a bad mood LOL) or if other parents are faced with this too.
In reply to: Sue 's message, "This question if for you mothers out there.....what do you think of all these fundraisers these schools & sports are sending our kids out to sell?" on 09:21:41 03/30/03 Sun

  • I hear you Sue! Seems like one sale ends and another begins. We only do two big fundraisers at school now. Pizza days once a month raise $500 too. Teachers get kids doing fundraising to fund their own trips. Sell baked goods, freezies, popcorn, etc. Rather than break your back you should just ask for MONEY up front. Especially for baseball & hockey. If you want a bbq, just say we're collecting $5 from each family next week for that. Same for a trip....council will pay for the bus but we need $10 per kid to get into the zoo....Try it and see. (NT) -- Day, 16:31:17 03/30/03 Sun

  • And in case I didn't say it, yes it peeves me too! I have Girl Guide cookies sitting in the closet from Christmas and a new batch just arrived...guess who ends up buying most of them?? I found it best to do the two big fundraisers each year and we fund the trips with those. Any more the kids raise the money but its mostly quarters and stuff and nothing huge out of our pockets.
