My favorite Dawn/Spike scene in Bargaining is when the demon bikers begin attacking the Summers's neighborhood. When Dawn refuses to leave the house, Spike grabs Dawn by the arms rather harshly out of frustration. But he immediately moves his hands off of her shoulders, calms himself, then touches her again, reassuringly, as he explains he understands why she's scared. He then continues to reassure her that he will protect her, and moves his hands further down her arms in a gesture that reminds me of a hug (or as close to one as Spike gets). Finally, he grabs her hand and takes her from the house. When they're behind the bushes, Dawn has her hands on Spike's shoulders, even when he makes his infamous, "Looks like fun" comment.

This is such a big advance from Tough Love, where Spike was so awkward expressing affection and comfort to Dawn that he couldn't even stroke her hair.

I also loves when he threatens to 'thump' her if she doesn't get away from the window. That's such a big brother type of comment to make.
