Welcome to the Melville Millionaires Forum!

http://www.melvillemillionaires.com

Congrats -- Ryan Potter, 12:13:18 04/08/03 Tue [1]

Congrats on a great run fellas, you did the town of Melville proud. As an alumni I was very interested in your story this season, just making the playoffs and then creating a whole lot of havok once in. I too know what it is like to get so close and then not atain the ultimate goal, but hold your heads high, you will be proud of this accomplishment when you are through playing. Good luck next year boys.

We Love... -- You!, 02:21:00 04/11/03 Fri [1]

Hey Melville boys--we love you!

Reply to Mils Fan -- $$GO MILS GO$$, 01:11:01 04/12/03 Sat [1]

Instead of being disappointed and embarrased, you should focus more on the fact that we are the Southern Champs and be proud of our team, especially of the captain. You said yourself the captain is suppose to show outstanding leadership, sportsmanship, motivate his teammates, and put on a good show for the fans. Well if you look back at the past season, Dustin Hunter DID do all of that for our team. Just because he didn't go up to accept the plaque does not mean that you should be disappoited of the conduct of our captain. Remember, he pulled our team through tough times and got us to the SJHL Finals! What I think is sad is that fans like you who should be congradulating our team on a job well done would come on here to comment on whether our captain accepts the plaque or not..perhaps he was just not in a good enough mental state to go up to accept it.

Anyways, GOOD JOB BOYS!! Great season..I've never seen more exciting hockey! Good luck in the future to the Mils who aren't returning next year!!

GO MILS GO

Great year -- Macjim, 22:55:29 04/20/03 Sun [1]

This has been a great year for the Mils. we did not go all the way but we sure fooled all the doomsayers. Thanks Steve and the other members of the coaching staff and executive for having faith in the Mils to do as well as they did. It will be another great year next year.
Congrats to all those who are going on to other dreams and goals.
Have a great summer!!

Returning Players -- Stu, 20:28:03 04/27/03 Sun [1]

Is there any rumors of some of the boys that may not be comming back next year that could return???

[ Edit | View ]

Stu -- observer, 17:52:58 05/02/03 Fri [1]

Is there any rumour that your's is perhaps the most confusing post every posted? boys may not be coming back that could return? if they're not coming back they're not returning.
do you mean that there are some boys that are eligible to come back, are talking about not coming back? and are you hoping that they do, in fact, come back?

[ Edit | View ]

Trade -- TJ, 18:07:52 05/05/03 Mon [1]

I heard that Matt Stephansion is not coming back but is going to Camrose.......

[ Edit | View ]

matt -- mils4life, 16:54:47 05/08/03 Thu [1]

Considering camrose is a junior A team Matt would not be allowed to play for camrose unless there was a trade...which steve would not be stupid enough to do...so why would u even say osmething like that

[ Edit | View ]

TJ knows what I'm talking about -- Stu, 22:22:33 05/08/03 Thu [1]

Well its quite clear that TJ knows what I am saying. Are some boys that could be eligible to come back, are they or aren't they, any rumours floating around. EX. some going to school instead of returning, or whatever else?

[ Edit | View ]

Matt Stefanishion -- Mils Fan, 16:34:15 05/10/03 Sat [1]

Number one, its Matt Stefanishion and number two...he will be here next year. Don't start a rumour that you can't back up (and yes I know it is close to his hometown if that's your reasoning).

[ Edit | View ]

Haackes Return -- Scout, 17:43:39 05/10/03 Sat [1]

I heard rumour that Chad Haacke has been given a spot on the Swift Current Broncos for the upcomign season. Heard coach Mcewen really likes this kid and will be playing in the WHL next season. I hope we don;t lose this guy, he really had a strong season last year.

[ Edit | View ]

Milsfan -- TJ, 17:59:24 05/12/03 Mon [1]

If Matt were smart he would go to the AJHL were he can get a Scholly, because he will not get one in Melville, if no one this year got one...

[ Edit | View ]

yup real mils fan -- mils4life, 05:57:28 05/14/03 Wed [1]

If u were such a mils fan why would u want stef gone? prolly just another one of these bandwagon guys that only supports the mils when they are winning

[ Edit | View ]

TJ -- Whatever, 14:26:57 05/14/03 Wed [1]

Yes...Mike Epp got a Scholly this year so u mite wanna know for sure before you go yapping!

Scholarships -- Mils Fan, 21:47:27 05/16/03 Fri [1]

Yes the Mils did have a successful playoff run...however, it takes a little more than that to prove you are a player worthy of a scholarship. Don't get me wrong, any Mils fan knows that there are several players (from this season) that deserve scholarships, but they have to prove it to scouts. Take Matt for example...big kid, skates well, nice shot...he seemed to exude that this year (but not last year). He will have scouts looking at him this year for sure. If I was a scout, I would think that I would need to see a little more before putting my neck on the line (because anyone can have one good season). If the Mils do well next year, guaranteed four or so players will get a scholarship. Just my opinion...what do you think?

Next Year -- Hockeyman, 18:04:07 05/21/03 Wed [1]

So there seems to be a bit of speculation here on this website about "who" is going to be returning next season to Melville, unless for some reason a trade is worked out, they're all coming back. I'd like to know fans opionions on who's going to be playing with which other players next year and why. I'd also like to hear some comments on the returnees. I thought the young players played great in the playoffs, when they got thier chances. They got a taste of success in the playoff run and they're going to want more.
Next season should prove to be a better year as far as regular season standings go, and we all know when it comes to playoffs, anything can happen. It'll be a sweet night when they hang up the "Sherwood Conference Championship"banner.

Blueline -- Bill, 15:06:09 05/23/03 Fri [1]

how's the blue line look this year?

[ Edit | View ]

UP COMING TALENT -- John Boyd, 23:45:02 05/29/03 Thu [1]

I hear there is a couple real good prospects from town that are ready to jump in to the line up and play. Maybe even take some vets spots.

[ Edit | View ]

Scholarships -- Sven Anderson, 10:00:18 05/30/03 Fri [1]

I heard that Quentin Gauthier recieved a full ride with a big U.S. college team. Does anyone know about this? Congrats if this is true. This won't hurt the Mills because they have rookie standout Jamie Langen back, who I heard is working out like a mad dog this off-season. Jamie will be an all-star this season, mark my words.

[ Edit | View ]

BLUELINE -- Scout, 19:03:52 05/30/03 Fri [1]

All I;m sayign is that the blueline better be it was last year. Luckily we had 3 really solid lines and Gauthier in net. Need some tough d men this year that aren't scraed to get the puck.

[ Edit | View ]

Last Year -- Hockeyman, 07:12:16 06/05/03 Thu [1]

Re: "Scouts" comments, we had "4" strong lines last year (don't leave out the rookies, they did a their job) and our D-men did a great job on the back end. We'll miss the boys who are gone, Cam & Michael, but the young guys back there will step up and make us all proud. The Mills proved - "It does'nt matter how many games you win, just which ones !"
P.S. In case you forgot, the Mills were in the SJHL Championship, that took everybody's best effort and these boys made us all very proud. Let's not start that finger pointing and insulting the players crap again.

[ Edit | View ]

Right on Hockeyman!!! -- Loyal Fan, 11:08:22 06/05/03 Thu [1]

Absolutely agree with Hockeyman!! Sometimes negative fans need to give their head a shake, since the Mils proved that all their players had what it takes to get to the provincial final. Way-ta-go Mils! I will be purchasing my season ticket as soon as possible.

[ Edit | View ]

Good point BUT -- Milsfanatic, 16:06:22 06/05/03 Thu [1]

Scout...you make a good point about the dmen, but the thing you didn't consider is the fact that the team was a HIGHLY offensively motivated team. A lot of the time this caused a lot of odd man situations. The forwards could score and that helped out our club a tremendous amount, but you sacrifice defensive play for offensive play. Didn't seem to matter. SOUTH CHAMPS!. Go for Grand Prairie guys. Let's sell out the VAULT!!!

[ Edit | View ]

stefanishion -- Matt himself, 03:18:01 06/07/03 Sat [1]

hi this is matt himself just to clear all the rumour i am goin to grande prairie storm since they are hosting the rbc and guranteeing me a scholarship... thanks melville you were great!!! have a great future

Coaches -- Mr. Ed, 10:21:15 06/11/03 Wed [1]

Does anyone know the status of the coaching staff for the upcoming season. There were rumours that Neil might not be returning. I believe Steve has one more year on his contract

Where's the Fans -- Hockeyman, 10:53:08 07/14/03 Mon [1]

Last entry....JUNE 11th ?!....where's the fans and thier comments (out farming & golfing ?). As far as I know, all the coaches will be back and thats great. Steve, Neil and Ralph did a great job with the team and I'm looking forward to another run a the Royal bank Cup from this years squad. Also, check out the SJHL website - pre-season schedule. The league is hosting a college scouts tournament in Saskatoon from September 5 - 7. It's a chance to see how every team is setting up for the upcoming season, sounds fun, I'll be there.

First 2 exhibition games should be good! -- TrueBlueFan, 09:38:16 07/27/03 Sun [1]

September 1st and 2nd...Exhibition games against Yorkton! That should be very entertaining! Looking very forward to it! Hopefully Melville will come out on top but I guess we will soon find out! Its just over a month away and I think almost everyone is ready for hockey season! I know I sure am! It was nice to watch it later this past season and hopefully it will go even longer this coming season! Anyone heard anything about trades made this summer or anything?

rink -- mils4life, 13:20:39 08/03/03 Sun [1]

Only 1 question where are the mils going to play for sept and oct?

[ Edit | View ]

Rink -- Styckboy, 23:42:54 08/06/03 Wed [1]

What's wrong with the rink ?(& I use the term "rink" loosely - It is a stadium isn't it?)Is Grant Schmidt using it for a campaign headquarters? Isn't there one right beside that doesn't fog up? Just pack em in a little tighter -nobody will get nosebleeds anyway.

[ Edit | View ]

rink -- mils4life, 17:00:21 08/07/03 Thu [1]

We do have a rink next door but the glass would need to be replaced also the ledges along the boards at the front of the plex would get in the way so they would have to replace that

[ Edit | View ]

Rink -- Styckboy, 08:44:27 08/08/03 Fri [1]

Hey mils4life
How about the Eagledome @ Lebret then. You still didn't tell me how come they can't play there.

[ Edit | View ]

rink -- mils4life, 12:46:52 08/10/03 Sun [1]

styckboy: hey the eagledome is also another option for the rink, but in that case u are going to have a reduced base of season ticket holders. sportsplex is our best option thne It would be the eagledome. but someone mentioned playing in yorkton, that is prolly the worst option

Pre-Season -- Ipreferwood, 10:26:14 08/12/03 Tue [1]

What nite is the preseason game in Melville? Is there an intersquad game on Sun. or can I go to the ridergame?

Is there a list of players who are attending training camp available?

How come they can't play in Melville? Termites?

Cleland -- Ipreferwood, 07:57:27 08/19/03 Tue [1]

Is Richie Cleland coaching AAA in Yorkton. Is he still our head scout? Talked to some listed players & they never hear from anybody. Wonder why they all go to BC?

KFC -- Styckboy, 16:15:03 08/20/03 Wed [1]

Is it true KFC closed? Where are those chicken$#!^'s from Yorkton goiung to eat when they come to town?

[ Edit | View ]

KFC here today gone tomorrow -- KFC Manager, 11:20:12 08/21/03 Thu [1]

Yep its true, KFC has closed down. Now where is Shawn Langen gona eat??? Everyone knows he lives off KFC, is he gona sk for a trade now?

[ Edit | View ]

Shawn Langen -- Dirk, 10:37:47 08/22/03 Fri [1]

rumour has it shawn langen has been working out like a mad dog with his little brother Jamie, Look for shawn to compliment his rookie season and put up 40 goals this year. With Shawn, Stephanision, Haacke, Hack, Wilson, Parker, Trapp, Savard, Magnuson, Zuliniak, and Bryan Hunter back on forward, the mills will be good

[ Edit | View ]

D-men -- Wilfred Laurier, 16:58:22 08/22/03 Fri [1]

So another season is in the near weeks and i've been hearing that the number of D-men coming back to the team is slim. Breikreiz and Epp are over age and word is that thunberg and smeltzer are not returning. That just leaves the young Klassen, Heshka, Krienke, and Zakresky if u call him "returning"... I've also heard that Klassen will be attending Tiger camp in Medicine Hat and Heshka is also going to a WHL camp. If this is so than the Mils could be struggling with D-men even though they'll have a great forward core and of course great goaltending.

Good Start -- Styckboy, 22:48:54 09/01/03 Mon [1]

Looks like the Mils have some good rookies in the mix. Missed the game but 10-1 sounds like a thumping to me.Who's
the up-and-comers?

[ Edit | View ]

kreinke -- mils4life, 06:18:28 09/02/03 Tue [1]

Has anyone seen kreinke? WOW if he wasnt 6'8 I wouldnt have recognized the kid. He came to play this year guys. the kreinker is for real

[ Edit | View ]

Langen And Gauthier -- Mr.Stats, 09:13:35 09/02/03 Tue [1]

Watching these two at camp leads me to think the mills will be competitive all year long. Two solid goaltenders that come back with experience and desire to win a championship. might be weak on defence, adding Roe helps but i think we could use bergen, klassen, and heshka. Forwards look strong, adding Sterenko, Kienes, Vaughan, and Reiger will also help out the returning 9 forwards. lets go mills!

[ Edit | View ]

Rookies -- TrueBlueFan, 12:00:41 09/02/03 Tue [1]

Some of those rookies played very well against Yorkton last nite! There should be some of the vets a bit worried about their spot on the team because with rookies like that the vets could be getting dealt! Braden Rieger was one that stood out very well! He would be a good asset to the team...and what about the home town boy Ryan Kienas, for his size he did damn good...Hope the coaches make the right choice as to who is staying and who is going!! Good luck in Yorkton tonite guys! 10-1 for OUR rookies...lets get them with our vets too! GO MILS GO!!

how many fans does the rink in the fort seat?

[ Edit | View ]

MilsFan -- Rink, 17:55:10 09/15/03 Mon [1]

Im thinking maybe everyone is out trying to find the guys who are workin on the stadium to help them get the show on the road and they havent come back yet because the guys are nowhere to be found.
Is there any hope that the rink will be finished in time for this season or are we gonna have to drive to the Fort all season? They better finish that rink fast or the Mils are going to be SOL for fans!
Good luck this season guys! I hope the rink gets finished soon!
