I've done some more digging. Envision uses libtiff for reading TIFFs, and libtiff has optional support for the old-style JPEG compression. It has to be enabled at compile-time, though, and I don't have a suitable C compiler available to me. Anyone want to try it?

Edit csource/tiffconf.h and change the '#undef OJPEG_SUPPORT' into '#define OJPEG_SUPPORT'. Then recompile and relink.
