Subject: The time cost for AppendToStream with TIFF appears to be growing non-linearly

I've begun some testing with the Envision library and so far have found it to be very reliable and a good fit to our needs.

I have run into a snag and don't know what may be going on. We have need to generate multipage TIFF files. I'm using AppendToStream and a TMemoryStream as part of the testing.

We are generating a Hello World test page, 8.5x11, with a cyan background. The TIFF settings are 96 dpi resolution, Packbits. Everything else is default.

On a three page generation test I see the following (All times are in milliseconds):

testThreePage
Page One
Time to create image = 36
Time to save image to stream = 2211
Page Two
Time to create image = 53
Time to save image to stream = 6831
Page Three
Time to create image = 55
Time to save image to stream = 10563
testThreePage

Each page is roughly 2MB in size, however, I would normally expect the time growth to be O(n), it appears to be growing slightly faster than that. Additionally a time of circa 3.5 seconds per page to append to a memory stream appears somewhat high.

I'm somewhat confused. Any thoughts?
