I use the funtionality in order to display 24 bit bitmaps on a 8 bit display so I want to handle the palette. But you are right - that is very troublesome and I hate it too, but it's the way it is ;-)
I would regard it a functionality many people would want. So I'll suggest some method being able to do it. Maybe an assign-like method or maybe some way to get a palettehandle to put into the dest. TBitmap before using Draw to draw the bitmap into it. I would prefer to get a solution from you but I could also make it myself using the memorystream strategy, but I'm afraid it could be slow and I need it to be kind of fast. Also as I said I think many would really like to have this method in your lib.
