THE GREAT LOCAL BAND RAFFLE BEGINS @ OASIS 160 THIS SUNDAY!!!

For the past few months, local bands have been contributing merchandise for a raffle to be held at the end of the year. Just recently, a decision was reached on where the money from that raffle will go. Proceeds from this raffle will be donated to the Eamiel Beck Music Scholarship Fund and possibly S.A.D.D. or R.A.D.D. Eamiel was the drummer for Last In Line, a punk band from south suburban Midlothian. He was killed in a drunk driving accident on July 28th. Last Sunday, 18 local bands got together at The Viking Lodge in Tinley Park to put on a 12-hour show in Eamiel's honor, to raise funds for the music scholarship. Approximately $3900 was raised that day.
Right now, 25 bands have contributed merchandise and autographed items for the raffle. These items include cd's, shirts, hats, buttons, stickers, drumsticks, a cymbal and even an autographed acoustic guitar. The goal is to have 100 bands contribute.
Tickets for this raffle will be sold at various shows over the next few months. In December, at a show yet-to-be determined, two winners will be chosen and split the prize package, taking home merch and memorabilia from 50 bands each. You do not have to be present to win.
Tickets will cost $1 each, 5 for $3 or 10 for $5.

Right now, bands who have contributed or who have promised to contribute to this raffle are:
Much The Same, Fallout Boy, Jinxpack, Knockout,
Showoff, Spitalfield, Tone Deaf George, Logans Loss, Lucky Boys Confusion, Plain White T's, Dog & Everything, Kameron Fry,
Saraphine, Allister, August Premier, 504 Plan, Ophur, Division, Close Enough, Full Range, PGS, Shooting Blanks, Swizzletree & Starstruck.

We would like to get as many bands involved in this as possible, and not just bigger, well-known bands. Every Chicago area band is invited to participate and strongly encouraged to do so. So if you're in a band, please contact me about donating some merch or used equipment for the raffle. And if you're a fan, please come to Oasis 160 Sunday and buy some tickets.

There will soon be a website showing what shows raffle tickets will be sold at, what bands have contributed and what items they've donated...so you can see what you have a chance at winning. Expect that list to be at Sunday's show. We're also trying to put together a scrapbook of sorts to show everyone a little more about who Eamiel was, as many people, especially from the west and north burbs, probably never knew him. Regardless of whether you knew him or not, a promising young musician's life was cut short and the money raised thru this raffle will help other promising musicians to perhaps, fulfill their dream and keep Eamiel's memory alive. Rock on, Eamiel.
