Subject: Good summation AB …. Solutions to identified frailties ?

Down back
Looking through who wasn’t playing , yet available , names don’t jump up in flashing lights. Our best available were out there.
Changes might ask for punting and imagination
It is looking increasingly like Murphy might pull the pin . Why risk another head knock with his history ? It happens…just look at the knock that sent Camo off last night
Eyre is a suggested longer term defensive tall but he is weeks and good efforts at VFL off
Would punting one of the mature bodied players listed as a defender ( Bytel or Carmichael both 24 , around 6’3” and strongly built ) help ? Carmichael is a thumping kick but can he match up on the likes of a creative small forward ? Could the taller Allen fit in there ?
And who would they replace ? ( the unusually quiet Bruz to the MF maybe ? )

Rucks
You are right about Cox behaving like a dill near the end , repeatedly giving away petulant frees of the same type in ruck contests …as some form of naughty child type protests to the ump until he was thankfully dragged
But we have only one other choice currently ( Frammers ) and he is doing ok on statuesque types down back … the mobile types will test him . Steene sounds like he is a season off . Eyre is tall enough and athletic , but injured
Cox is smart and will take on board the lessons
Cameron is sound

Mids
As you say we have one raging bull and that’s it
McCreery too often misses the handle . Rule one ..get the ball ..rule two ..get the ball
I’m suggesting Maynard without having a defensive solution to replace him and without proof that it would work …except that he can rack up 20+ defensive possessions , so what might he do where the ball is more often ?
Lippa would need to move. He is currently just not hard enough
Sullivan should be tried. Remember the Tony Liberatore path to success

Forwards
There are few options as forward targets that spring to mind because the two most likely ( Fred and Dan McS ) are injured.
It’s probably a crazy punt based on nothing concrete but rumour and what I read , but if Murphy does pull the pin , is Hutchinson any serious form of forward target prospect and are we able to pick him . Even then he is probably long term.
Begg seems more if an ever willing battler but not a goal kicker or creative forward
Ash looked lost and desultory.in the VFL last week , just as he had looked at AFL previously and at mid career , can he suddenly find a new zest and determination ? Loads of talent…no question, but how does unexpressed talent help ?
Steene has the leap but will be introduced gradually as a ruck over time

The three “ kids” TJ, Harry Di, and Parker probably aren’t going to be seen
Ryan is injured
Dean is being built up confidence wise after 2 seasons out , so he will come back when he shows something
Richards is sending a message via the scoreboard but which small forward moves aside for him …though he is quick and dual sided enough for the Club to initially talk about using him upfield or out of defence
Olag will have to tighten up and also show more rebound dash as Nobes will hold his place

Feeling pretty gloomy after that near loss and need to see something promising evolve from those we have listed
