It's not strictly a homophobic remark - it could apply to straight women as well.

But in this context, Clarko said it to another man. Which would mean that man indulges in same sex activities and there is something wrong with that.

So the double standard is still there.

From what was said on AFL360 last night, the player Clarko said it to didn't take offence. That's why it wasn't an issue.
But the Essendon player/playing group did take offence. And that's the big difference apparently.

I don't see why it should matter, personally. They're both homophobic slurs. The offence is surely to all gay people, not just to one football player.
