... but I'm hearing that was English's most putrid performance for some time. He's one of the best rucks goign around at the moment and will bounce back

Bont might have been quiet last night but I watched him almost drag his side over the line against Geelong just last week. Libba was going alright too.

Maybe a bit of gastr through the club or just bad night at the office for their stars last night? They do rely heavily on them. Much like us and Buckley in the 90s, much of WBD's current gameplan seems to be "give it to Bont" and if they don't do that, he just goes and gets it for himself anyway. (I'm hoping we aren't going the same way with Nick, btw)

They went through a period of having a strong midfield but weak KP brigade and couldn't get the job done (except for that one year they had the full forward who should have been given the Norm Smith). Now it seems they are headed the other way. I guess they could move Naughton back to accommodate JUH and Darcy. Liam Jones will be gone soon enough so there might be room.

But Libba can't have too much left, playing the role he is and Bont is now 28 as well. Macrae is in serious decline already, as is JJ. Treloar isn't the force he was. They've lost a gun in Dunkley and some pretty decent support in whatsisname who went to the Dees (and also hasn't set the world alight there either). Richards looks ok but no superstar.

Reckon they would have been well served trading out one of those tall forwards. THey could have gotten a tonne for just one of them and gotten some midfield talent to kick it to the talls they have left. But they went and gave Naughton a Grundy style contract that will scare off the comp and guarantee that they'll never get a good trade deal and JUH is too good to lose as is Darcy by the looks who is also the son of Doggy royalty.

They have too much talent to be able to bottom out, even if they want to. Chances are in a few years, once Bont starts properly slowing up, they are going to have KPF situation exceeding Franklin/Roughead and nobody to kick it to them. A lot of weight on Sanders's shoulders
