Subject: Reef …submerged or slowly surfacing ?

Of course for us supporters , time is of the essence .
In Reefs time plenty have come and gone …Murley, Draper, McMahon , Tyler similar age or possibly younger .
One thing is clear about youngsters — they evolve at different rates , and even now we are recruiting the likes of Long 21, Richards24 and Sully 26 with no established AFL history .
Reef was recruited and there was enthusiasm on this Board citing his blend of speed and dual sidedness . 3 yrs ago I saw him briefly playing MF in a short practice match at our training ground . He played in the middle and his speed from “ go” bursting forward made all around him …all of them….look like plodders . His kicking was like Maynard’s …flat and penetrative .

Honestly , based on that viewing , my reaction was simply WOW

Nothing I have seen since from Reef has even approached that .
Injuries wiped out a fair slice of the time since , yet he is still only 21 .

We owe it to him and to ourselves as a Club to investigate the full extent and limits of his ability because of the time invested already. Using him as a fill in key forward when he is really not equipped for the role yet and possibly will never be suited to KPP
