Subject: But if you've already used that round's pick?
In reply to: Annabelle 's message, "It's suggested that clubs may have to use picks in the same round in which the player lands." on 18:30 19/06/24 Wed

FOr instance, I have pick 4 from a low finish. I draft a player. My F/S prospect is bid on at 15 so I no longer have that first rounder. I would need to use a 2nd rounder I guess?

What if that pick had been traded already? I can see examples where clubs wouldn't want to make any trades in trade period because the risk it might cost them a preferred father son.

Now ok maybe that's fair enough. Clubs seem to be complaining about other clubs having multiple bites of the cherry: "Hey you got 2 bags. I ain't got none!" and to be sure, those clubs are like the man in that scene. But the league and the PA are keen to keep player movements up so they probably shouldn't be making it harder for clubs to trade.

Then of course, there is futures trading. If you have traded your first round the year before and your F/S was bid on before where that pick eventually lands, do you give up rights to the F/S?

That I'm in favour of, if only because it just might save Collingwood from itself and we might stop this incessant futures trading but again, at the cost of overall player movement.
