Subject: Before his injury last year, he was the best player in the game.
In reply to: barcode 's message, "Nick might already be the best Collingwood player I’ve ever seen." on 22:18 20/06/24 Thu

Nick would still be considered excellent if he were to only get the ball and move it on. However, his ability to envision and construct a winning sequence, drawing his teammates into his vision is outstanding. He does it over and over again. It is fortuitous that he has Pendles as a mentor; however, one wonders whether he needs mentoring. Their respective nous is probably commensurate.

Nick causes a lot of consternation in ex-player-commentators, who scream for him to be tagged! How could this 50-game upstart be that good? Tag him!!!

Nick is unlike any player I have previously seen. I was young when Greening was running around. Unfortunately, Jim O'Dick cut him down before John could become all that he could. I can remember the outrage; I was outraged too. I remember how unfair it was, and the anguish that it caused; I was anguished!

Last year, we saw them go after Nick, and the has-beens and never-beens were delighted! I imagine that someone had a chat to Nick's teammates as they are quick to fly the flag nowadays. Ginnie's early treatment by the opposition was similar - our guys didn't protect him enough; however we improved. I surmise that it was because of the new boundaries in football, and being concerned about stepping over them. Thank christ for Maynard!

Nick's solid foundation is a credit to his parents; Josh likewise. I love the brothers' relationship--it's so friggin' wholesome!

Nick isn't a show pony either - he's an on-field leader. It's highly uncommon to see someone of his years, directing his older, experienced teammates about positioning, AND for them to listen!

Let's hope he remains uninjured, that his girlfriend doesn't run off with a bluesman, and that his dog doesn't up and die. With a modicum of good fortune, combined with his singular abilities, we may be witnessing the early years of the greatest of them all.
