Subject: Addressing the “ needs” issue first

It seems that the ageing champs are keen to keep at it ie
Pendles maybe one or even tepee seasons
Sidey who has ( until I missed ABs 2023-24 preseason distance runs reports ) dominated all comers in preparation ….and he still makes a difference simply because few in the comp have his exquisite mix of dual sidedness , ball reading and run
Mitch …not sure there as his injury will impact his ground coverage
Checkers ….we will need to see how he comes back
Billy …the blood circulation on one lower limb is a worry ( way broader than AFL footy) , so we will have to wait and see
Hyphen…am I mistaken or is he currently even better than 2018 ?
Howe …the superstar is back . He is almost irreplaceable …the three , he Moore and Maynard - the defensive stars of this batch ( give Dean as much time with him as possible )
Cox …Will he actually recover ?
McStay …29 today ….will he get back ?

So there are age , career-stage , full recovery question marks there of course plus the reality that older players need management anyway.

Perceived weaknesses

Rucks are “ thin” in quality
Camo having a good year …back up is Frammers who did well last yr
We have three quite slim but tall young blokes to back up
( Steene, Eyre [ who might be more a KP player] and Smit )

Forwards
Fred is work in progress
Checkers we will need to see
Ash is a mystery man …blessed with skill and athleticism but he needs to work miles harder

Imho the areas which need bolstering are strength and run out of defence ( another Maynard please )
Maybe they might try 194 cm solid Long back there at some stage

Several “ next Pendles /Sideys “ ( don’t tell me I’m dreaming )
Harry Di ? ….Sparkes from Gippsland via our VFL team ?

Another future key forward ( ? Farrant via our VFL team ..takes a big grab but skinny )

Who they might be targeting from outside I have no idea except Bailey chat .
