Subject: Totally agree re the handicap of the season

Have always hated the so called "luck" element of the fixture.

There's only 3 alternatives:

1. Make the competition more elite and cute the underperforming clubs off at the knees (highly ! nlikely).

2. Cut the season length to each club playing each other club once only with the reverse fixture the following season. ( Probably fix).

3. Extend lists, more games as per European soccer. Mid week games. It will all be about list management. Perhaps shorten the length of games to accommodate this thought.. (extremely unlikely but my preferred option).

There's the perennial argument about did matches when there's nothing to play for however I'd counter that more matches means more opportunity to influence the season, play more players, discover more about your club etc etc. Of course they'll be more injuries, but injuries will occur whatever the length of the season is.

The lack of equity in fixturing is really an issue that the AFL has pushed into the top hard basket rather than address with some workable solutions.
