We need some extra body power and swift , deep delivery forward in there
The problem is …from whence cometh that power ?

Lippa has built up but he is pretty non physical
Beau is currently a flash in , flash out , hit or miss type
JDG is one of the best “Burst “ players in the comp but when the burst has bust he is diminished for a while
For some reason Josh looks diminished in output this season . Misskicks more frequently and not as assertive
Sidey is good value still but battered and aged and there is no one better listed
Pendles is in pretty much the same boat …a champ still but slower …it happens
Sully …great little battler but no outstanding qualities …speed or kicking or possession numbers or scoring nous
HH…a developing kid
Nick is an utter standout and only Crisp comes within cooee

Finn…was thought to be the one we could groom to slot in when old champs retire , but he is not explosively quick nor strong nor a powerful kick

We haven’t trialled Reef as a mid …so who knows ? But he has size and speed .but at VFL he is a forward

As a forward Bobby seems to think its mark of the year/ goal of the year opportunity , every time he gets a touch . Maybe as a winger he would get more space for his speed ( he was cornered repeatedly v Suns) and Hill on the burst streaming goalwards will produce scores , though having targets will help . He will also score himself .

Who else ?
It sounds like Long might be a chance …big, strong and competitive
Who else is putting their hand up as a potential mid with speed, deep delivery and strength ?
Bytel 28 possessions in VFL …we need to try him .
Allen not mentioned in best — shouldn’t he be trialled off HBF ?
Harry D …ditto …quick , well built and deep kick
Parker injured , but he is a play reader and deep kick . His u/18 coach ( a Dons Flagster ) describes him as elite by foot and in mobility .

The selectors have done a great job so far despite injuries .
