Subject: We were working towards a flag though.

What I am getting at is in our context, I don't think we should be trading any more first round draft picks on established names... at least for the next 5 years.

Post a flag / flag era, trading away early picks a few years in a row tends not to work. It slows things down. (Of course there are exceptions ... such as Jeremey Cameron. But he is a bona-fide all time great / future hall of famer which a club can build a team around).

The better option is to think medium term rather than short term (or even long-term) with your list strategy. And by this I mean, it's okay to spend money on well targets free agency and make the odd targeted trade, but it's vital to hold on to your first round picks.

If we want to bring in a big name next year, he should come from the RFA list. If we can't attract any of the following names, so be it, we then wait another 12 months for the next lot of RFA's.
