Big problem with the current set-up (in the AFL as a whole) is once you get a string of injuries, you're left with a handful of AFL-listed players in the VFL, the VFL-listed guys, and then a whole lot of ringers.

Can't be easy trying to maintain structures, the gameplan, and the imperative to educate players, when everything is so chaotic. We got smashed regularly this year. Can't imagine that help with next-generation cultivation. (And, I'm not criticising the club here -- just stating the mechanisms in place for all clubs.)

When Michael Tuck played, clubs had their senior side, their reserves, and their Under 19s, so they had oversight on everything and everybody.
