2023 playbook that landed O.Henry

-> go after high quality player
-> work up behind the scenes: farm visit, Cotton-On drive-by, drop in at mummies for dinner
-> clear out your 1st round draft pick
-> have player declare preference to move to Gee
-> have said player /player's mgmt do the heavy lifting with the current club & in the media re narrative
-> offer /pay peanuts (sorry, we don't have any 1st rounders, so take what we're offering or you can keep disgruntled /want-away player ..)

2024 playbook that will land Smith + Oliver + Martin
-> go after MULTIPLE high quality players in SAME year
-> work up behind the scenes: farm visit, Cotton-On drive-by
-> maintain only 1 * middling 1st round draft pick
-> have players declare preference to move to Gee
-> have said players /player's mgmt do the heavy lifting with the current club & in the media re narrative
-> offer /pay peanuts (sorry, we don't have any decent draft picks to offer - that was used on the other guy - so take the 2nd rounder we're offering + pay some of his salary, or you can keep disgruntled /want-away player ..)
