AFL launches investigation into Chris Scott’s new job with finance firm
The probe comes not long after it was made public that the coach had a role with a club sponsor.

7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary has revealed Geelong senior coach Chris Scott is being investigated by the AFL after recently accepting a new role with a finance firm.

Scott was announced as chief of leadership and performance at Morris Finance last week, which also happens to be a major and long-term sponsor of his club.

The company has been with the Cats for 14 years, and for the past five years it has been a direct partner of the master coach.

While Scott’s main priority is obviously still coaching his Cats, Cleary says that the AFL was now looking into his role with Morris amid soft cap (the total a club can spend on its football department) concerns.

All AFL coaches and their assistants are paid under the ‘soft cap’, and total wages must come in under the limit set by the AFL ($7.675 million in 2025).
