What an irrelevant football club.

A few highs aside, they're constantly struggling, constantly battling for their existence, constantly a drain on the league (and all that's implicit).

The AFL should've forced them to the Gold Coast (or Greater Western Sydney), so at least a new franchise could have some history. Forcing Fitzroy into Brisbane certainly helped Brisbane's street cred.

It's great for the footy-indigenous locales, like South Australia, Perth, Fremantle, and now Tasmania, to grow teams from scratch, knowing they'll immediately garner fervent support, but start-ups in foreign territory just result in hollow franchises put on a drip expected to sustain them for the next 482 years at everybody else's expense.
