Subject: not sure it's that straight-forward

i'm less convinced than most that a Cox-less forward line of McStay + Checkers (& Membrey) can get it done in terms of standing under big packs and bringing the ball to ground; or if we're struggling to exit our D50 that a big relieving pack mark from a long down the line (or kick-out) continues to be a go-to for us

that aside ..

if we're playing an oppo with 2 genuine rucks instead of a 6'2'er filling in for 5 mins then:

_my strong preference is Cox all-day-long
_the only other remotely competitive option would be Frammers playing KPD and then following the oppo's KPF / 2nd ruck into the CS

if we're playing an oppo with 1 genuine ruck + a 6'2'er filling in for 5 mins then:
_maybe you'd consider going with our own 6'2 option but you're foregoing what is (has been) an advantage (Cox >>> oppo 6'2'er and Cam+Cox >>>> wearing down oppo's #1 ruck).

the trade-off obviously is potential for the additional forward (eg. Membrey) doing more score-board / GA damage than Cox is contributing

like i say, i'm not convinced.

no doubt, through design or, more likely, through injury, it's a combination that will be explored
