Softer fixtures are used by the AFL to script the final 8. They’ll want Carlton and Essendon to play fivdjs for maximum return and eyes on TV - they know we are banks ie to drive up revenue of others whether we finish 12th or 4th. I expect the Hawks to get a tougher ride than last year as well given how “ watchable they were this year . The notion that the AFL creates a fixture and weights it according to your last seasons ladder position is fanciful
