In reply to: Porter 's message, "Get over it." on 17:18 13/11/24 Wed

For example, how important are the points to one or two extra wins during the H&A season, or even the ability to maximise the score margins in a game, to the ultimate finishing ladder position?

Geelong supporters lament the fact that they meet Collingwood at "Collingwood's home ground" twice a season, and point to that as an "advantage" - even though MANY teams experience the MCG quite often in a season.

Teams going to GMHBA would truly not have the same level of experience in that ground as Geelong do (and it's not like Geelong are really "strangers" to the MCG anyway).

I often wonder how much of an impact having the GMHBA games has been to them over the course of the last few years.

Of course, 2024 saw them not fare so well on their own turf, with some unexpected losses.

The point is that a fixture DOES have some influence on the H&A "journey" and will, by extension, have some influence on how a season pans out - Win-and-loss wise, percentage-wise, and , ultimately, ladder position wise.

However, I do agree with you Porter that we need to win regardless of the circumstances - in fact, perhaps the best tune-up for a finals appearance is having played the best teams and under the most difficult circumstances.

I therefore think that your penultimate comment on this matter is very well-placed.
