Subject: List management will be important, like Geelong in 2022

They rested players quite liberally and it worked for them.

In an ideal setup, we'd probably have both Membrey and Checkers playing. But perhaps we only opt for one some weeks. Maybe Cox comes in for McStay another week.

Against the bottom sides, we can afford to drop Pendles or Sidey or Howe or Mitchell - maybe even a couple of them.

We are well stocked for small and medium forwards, so Elliot could take a rest on any given week as well.

The advantage to a tough start is that in theory it's when the older players are freshest and the draw should ease up after that.

But having said that, we don't know what those 7 teams will be like next year anyway. We can make educated guesses that Brisbane, GWS, Sydney and Carlton will still be good sides. But there's question marks on all of them.

Port, Doggies and Essendon? Not losing sleep over them at this stage. But who knows, maybe they'll surprise us.

Maybe Collingwood will suprise you and wipe the floor with all 7 of them. Top of the ladder and looking unstoppable heading in to round 8. At which point we have even more opportunity to rest players.
