Batting techniques are now built around power hitting. Coaching focuses far less on solid defensive technique and more about strong base and bat speed. The techniques of players coming through are poor from a defensive aspect so when the pitch has some life many struggle.

But the flip side is the power these guys can bring. Look at some of the English bats coming through and some of the hitting you see in the big bash. The game is changing.
