Subject: Agree on the aging stars but I think the draw is exaggerated

Assuming the stars do maintain the rage and/or we have some improvement from the youth. With good player management and luck with injuries, a given for us (and any team) to succeed.

I think we're the best team in it. 14 wins is a pessimistic view, imo. I'd almost consider that a failure. Top 4 is not an unreasonable expectation - on paper.

Yes, we're playing teams that are expected to be decent for much of the season as oppose to the cellar dwellars. We're also basing that on years gone by, not the upcoming season.
A new season will see teams rise and fall. The top teams last year won't necessarily be so this year.

I think Port will be a good example of that. Pundits are still talking them up. But I think they've been pretenders for years now and they're only getting worse without Houston.

Brisbane will likely still be formidable but losing Joe can't be overlooked. It will impact them.

Do Sydney have the will to try again after last year? Maybe. On paper they have a great team. They had about as good a regular season as you could ask for. But that meant nothing on grand final day. That has to play on their minds.

Will it ever click for Carlton? Curnow is already injured.

We often worry about the opposition but they should all be worried about playing us in 2025.

Again, it's only on paper, but we have a superior team to 2023, imo. Add to that, the old players will be well aware their time is almost up and if it's not this year then they aren't likely to get another shot at a flag before they retire. It's as good a motivation as any to wind back the clock one more time.

So, rather than stressing about it now, I'm going to keep the draw in the back pocket to use as an excuse later. If we need it :)

Hopefully it won't be a significant factor in determining our success this year.
