Subject: Sat Feb 15 training - match sim.

Pre-season training - Feb 15th
8:05am-10:45am.

Bright and early this morning. Skies started out okay before it opened up and it started to rain. I didn't leave. Josh Gabelich came over and covered us both with his umbrella. Nice bloke.

No Darcy Cameron - I suspect, he has been in perth given Tom Barass got married yesterday.

Rehab group:

Fin
Cochran
DeMattia
Smit
Mitchell.

*Jordy did most of the session including some of the match sim, before heading upstairs to watch the remaining on the balcony. He doesn't seem too far away, but will they be extra cautious?
Mitchell though -- While he did a couple of the drills, he then was then relegated to running, so I think he's a bit further behind. Given how much time he has missed, it's hard to know when he's likely to come back.

Black team:

Lippa
Jordy
IQ
Maynard
Elliott
Josh
Schultz
Houston
Pendles
Mcstay
Perryman
Crisp
Reef
Membrey
Moore
Beau
Nick D
Markov
Howe
checkers
Cox

They did some line group drills, and transition drills within each squad -- was split into blacks and whites for this. Then about an hour after it started, the match sim began. Well, the first quarter was more like match senarios. Sometimes would start in the centre bounce, sometimes from the back pocket and would have to move the ball forward. The coaches would move play around different areas.

After that they did three 25 min periods. Players changed jumpers. In the last period a few others swapped as well (Allan, Ryan, Parker and I think a few others changed from white to black and others changed into white)

BUT initially this was the line up,

White defenders -

Moore
reef
Howe
Josh
IQ
Markov

(Possibly how we could go in opening round? We would need a 7th defender, suppose could get the nod?)

Black forwards:

Beau
Schultz
Checkers
Mcstay
Jamie
Membrey

Black defenders

Dean
Ryan
Frampton
Parker
TJ
Houston

White forwards

Taylor
West
Mulvogue
WHE
Bennetts
Glover

Midfield:

Black:

Lippa, Crisp (wings)
Cox (ruck)
Perryman
Pendles
Nick

White:

Sidey, Browne (wings)
Steene (ruck)
Allan
Sullivan
Long

VFL players were included:

Curtis Taylor
Harry Mahoney
Max Mahoney
Sam Glover
Josh Bennetts
Josh Browne
Chad Mulvogue
Isaiah Markovsky
Boston Dowling

Who impressed;

Lippa, on the way they seem to like him. Whether that's using his endurance and two way running. And his kicking inside 50. We know the forwardline can be a lonely place for a half forward, so better use him where he can get involved.

Reef, Took some nice marks and then used his pace to move he ball outside D50. He looks so comfortable with our back 6, and looking forward to him putting this in games starting next week

Membrey, he's stronger than he looks and I think plays taller than he is that you sometimes forget he is sub 190cm.

Mcstay took some nice grabs up forward as well. He uses his strong hands and body to make a threat up forward.

Nick does nick things, and it seems he is certanly past that foot issue, running through the middle of the ground with ease.

on Team B

Ryan, I thought he was quite good, took some really strong marks, and then rebounded and used his run to move the ball across the ground.

Steene - Had some really impressive moments. Was compeitive in the ruck, but it was his contested marking up the ground that becomes eye catching.

Parker - For someone I thought was injured on wed, he makes his presence known using his dash and link up chains through hand, and foot. For someone that hasn't been back in the game for very long he is very composed with ball in hand. Never rushes.
