AFL player charged with rape and sexual assault
An AFL player has been charged with rape and a string of other serious sexual offences, with the alleged offending occurring in the Geelong area. A second man has also been charged.

The alleged sex offences of the AFL player and another man occurred in the Geelong region.



An AFL player has been charged with rape and a string of other serious sexual offences.

Police yesterday confirmed the man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by compelling sexual touching.

The alleged offending took place in the Geelong area.

The Herald Sun cannot identify the player for legal reasons.

Any details of the alleged offending also cannot be made public.

It is understood the player was charged by Victoria Police’s sex crimes squad earlier this month.

The AFL and the player’s club were both contacted for comment on Friday afternoon.

The player is due to return to court later this year.

A second man was also charged over the alleged incident. He was charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by compelling sexual touching.
