They have probably seen his work ethic to move from a VFL player to on an AFL list and now further development is evident. Show of confidence in him. Contract the role players early, get the salary cap and bottom part of the list in order and then work on settling up for older players and recruiting later in the year. There are a lot of the older guys out of contract. Think it’s just sound list management
