Yeah, definitely worth a rant.
A lot of country footy umpires - particularly for the magoos - are club umpires.
And you do see the odd lopsided free kick count.
But, but by the same token, I've seen some umpires go out of their way NOT to be biased to the home team, to the extent that you could almost think they were being biased the other way.
We've heard plenty about #freekickhawthorn (quite funny but there's more than a hint of truth to it. Then on the weekend we saw a bit of #freekicknorthorn against the hapless Saints.
I think the WB v AC game is worthy of some investigation.

Interesting social study I saw back when I was at uni. A study was done of US College football teams and free kicks for penalties that related to tackling and other "combative" infringements: teams which wear predominantly black or red fare WORSE than those which wear white or blue. It did (could) not conclude whether that was a result of bias by the refs OR whether it was because players wearing those colours become more aggressive.
