What you mean wasn't up to your expectations was about the particular performance or you mean it farther for the main body of their recent music? I love the way of Corgan, he puts a mysterious weight to his words extending their depth. If you referred to that particular performance, don't forget that a real great number of the best artists don't feel familiar and comfortable with these places, tv and journalists generally. That doesn't count against their artistic worth. The one kind of ability don't have any relation at all with the other.
Why would you prefer Paz to have sung more instead of Corgan? It doesn't mean of course to underestimate one of both, i'm just interested to know your reasons. I do agree though about predictability, but i'm afraid that the major part of the funs take it as a betray.
