The Rapture is a very controversial subject among Christians. I personally am still researching, reading and praying about this subject matter. Although the word "rapture" is not specifically used in any version of the scriptures (including the original manuscripts), there is compelling evidence in the Bible that supports that Jesus will come to rapture His followers, then there will be a 7 year period of tribulation and then He will return for His 1000 year reign.

For example, in the same chapter that you refer to (Matthew 24), in addition to talking about "the coming of the Son of Man", Matthew also talks about people disappearing or vanishing and others being left behind - Mttw 24: 38-41 - "(38)For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;(39)and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. (40)Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. (41)Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left." This seems to refer to a "rapture".

Please read a booklet called "What Can We Know About The Second Coming" from the link I have typed in below.

(The company that publishes these booklets also does the popular daily devotionals "Our Daily Bread")
There is a section from this booklet called "Why Would He (Christ) Return Again...and Again?" that you will find interesting.

I also encourage you to read the "Left Behind" series by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. It is a God inspired fictional series about the rapture and the 7 year period of Tribulation. These books are based the prophesies in the book of Revelation and several other scriptures.

Ultimately, I would encourage you to read, pray and meditate on the Word of God. Ask Him to convict you by His Holy Spirit on what is His Truth.

Blessings in the Matchless Name of Jesus Christ the Savior,

Kboogy
